Pit Orchestra

Pit Orchestra is a performance ensemble consisting of strings, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. The Pit Orchestra plays for the school musical and adds to the overall production. They are present at all dress/tech rehearsals in preparation and perform for all musical performances. This group is open to all students in grades 9-12 at the director’s discretion. If interest is high, an audition process may be used.
If you are interested in joining the Pit Orchestra, contact Mr. Vizcarra for more information at rvizcarra@rbusd.org .Each musical has a unique instrumentation that the show is written for. Because of this, we are limited to the instruments we are able to take each year based on what the composer wrote for the show. Additionally, ensemble size plays a factor in the selection process as we are limited to how many people and instruments we can fit underneath the stage in the “pit”. Mr. Vizcarra will make the best decision possible for the instrumentation, ability level, and size capacity of the pit when selecting the orchestra for the show. If necessary, an audition process may be used for some instruments, but at Mr. Vizcarra’s discretion.
