Raymundo Vizcarra

Mr. Vizcarra graduated from Fresno State University with an emphasis in Performance and Music Education. He has also studied music performance at Northern Michigan University and Ohio State. He was chosen to perform as a soloist in the Salzburg Institute in Austria, Germany, and Italy in 2000. Mr. Vizcarra has held the principal trombonist position in the South Bay Youth Orchestra, Fresno Youth Symphony, California Jr. Philharmonic, among others. As an educator, Mr. Vizcarra is credited for his work resurrecting the Fairfax High School (LAUSD) music program that had been defunct for twenty years. During his seven year tenure at Fairfax, the band won three championships and received multiple Excellent and Superior ratings. His orchestras remained undefeated and also earned Superior ratings at festivals. In January 2014, Mr. Vizcarra arrived at Redondo Union and continues his high musical achievement legacy, with Redondo Union student musicians earning unanimous Superior ratings at festival. His students also won 1st place with a Gold rating at the Heritage Festival placing Redondo among the top ten-percent of all high school groups nationally. In Fall 2014, the RUHS band and dance guard earned several 1st place wins and five sweepstakes awards. Mr. Vizcarra plans to continue in the path of creating positive musical experiences for the students at Redondo Union High School.
