Social Media Push — Let's Hit $40,000!
Hi Parents!
WOW! Snap! Raise is going GREAT for everyone who's participated with emails and texts — we're almost at our first goal of $30,000, which is unheard of with 2 weeks to go! If you haven’t added any email or text, even a handful can go a long way.
Let's kick it into high gear and aim for $40,000 overall by activating social media.
I posted a video of Jacob at 8am this morning, and by 2pm he'd gotten 16 new donations between $10–$100. He went from $500 raised (emails/texts alone) to $1,160 in just 5 hours — all from posting on Facebook and Instagram.
You can see his video in the “Band” app chat thread. Or email me at robynwilleypratt@mac.com and I can send it to you
Here are the steps, ready to copy and paste. This works — please give it a try if you feel comfortable with postin on socials.
This is for the PARENTS social media, not children. Students don’t need to post on their social media.
Step 1: Make a Video of Your Student
Keep it casual — a phone video is perfect. Use your student's own words, or copy/paste the script below hold it close to the phone so your student can read. You can make it your own and don’t have to use the below script, just be sure to include “Can you Spare $10 for the marching band"
Script:
"Hi! I'm [Name] and I play [Instrument] in the Redondo Union Marching Band, and we need your help. Can you spare just $10 to help us make all our goals this year? The marching band is fully student and parent funded, so any amount helps. If I can get 100 people to donate just $10, I'll meet my goal. Money raised goes toward competition fees, uniforms, feeding us, bus fees, and everything it takes to be part of an award-winning marching band. Thank you! See the link!"
Tip: Lead with "Can you spare $10 for the marching band" — asking for a specific small number makes people way more likely to say yes.
Step 2: Add Captions (if you can)
Captions help a LOT with views and engagement — your student probably knows how to add them already! CapCut and Instagram Edits both work well. But if you can't add captions, post it anyway. A video without captions beats no video at all.
Step 3: Post to Facebook
Copy and paste this into the text box when you post the video (Or make your own engaging story):
Can you spare just $10 for our marching band?
The Redondo Union Marching Band is fully funded by parents and students — every dollar makes a difference. [Student name] is working hard to reach their goal, and it only takes $10 to help get them there.
Every donation counts, and every donor gets a shoutout!

Step 4: Post to Instagram
Step 4: Post to Instagram
4a. Add a link to your bio:
Go to your profile and tap Edit Profile
Tap the Links field
Paste your student's Snap! Raise link and save
Use this text for the bio link: " Support [Student Name] & the RUHS Marching Band !"
4b. Make a Post with your video:
Post your student's video to your feed and use this caption:
Can you spare $10 for the marching band?
[Student Name] plays [Instrument] in the Redondo Union Marching Band, and this program is fully funded by parents and students — no ticket sales, no shortcuts. Every dollar comes from people like you.
We're asking friends, family, and neighbors for just $10. It's a small ask that adds up fast, and it helps cover competition fees, uniforms, meals on the road, bus fees, and everything it takes to be part of an award-winning marching band.
If [Student Name] can get 100 people to give $10, they'll hit their goal! Every donation matters, and every donor gets a shoutout in the comments.
Link in bio to donate — thank you for supporting our kids!
4c. Add it to your Story too:
Post your video (or a photo) to your Story
Tap the sticker icon at the top
Choose the Link sticker
Paste your student's Snap! Raise link
Style it so it's easy to see and tap "Send Message"
Once it's up, feel free to caption your Story post: "Link in bio too — every $10 helps!"
Step 5: Watch the Donations Roll In — and Thank People!
Every time a new donation comes in on your student's Snap! Raise page, go back to Facebook and Instagram and thank the donor by name — and tag them in the comments.
This does double duty:
It boosts the post with the algorithm (more comments = more reach)
It gives donors a public shoutout, which makes others want to donate too — people love being thanked!
Step 6: Thank-You Video (3–5 Days Later)
Post a second video thanking everyone who's donated so far. Tag them in the caption, and remind people there's still time to give.
Script:
"Hi again, it's [Name]! I just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who's donated so far (Read off list of donors on camera) — you're amazing and it means so much to me and the whole marching band. If you haven't had a chance yet, there's still time to donate, and it's just $10 to help me reach my goal. Thank you so much!"
Step 7: Final Push Video (10–12 Days In)
If you're in it to win it, do one more video with the newest donors thanked and a clear sense of urgency — we're almost out of time!
Script:
"Hi, it's [Name] again! We only have 2 days left to reach our goal, and I am SO close. Thank you to [read list of new donors names] for helping me get here! If you've been thinking about donating, now's the time — it's just $10, and every single dollar gets us closer. Thank you for supporting the Redondo Union Marching Band!"
That's it! Video, caption, post, thank, repeat. This method works — Jacob's numbers prove it. Let's get to $40,000 together!
